2 people escape Oliver Street house fire; dog rescued by Fort Wayne firefighters
Two people got out safely Wednesday morning from a house fire on Oliver Street, and the Fort Wayne Fire Department rescued a dog from the home’s basement.
Firefighters were called at 9:08 a.m. to the blaze and arrived 4 minutes later at 4115 Oliver St., according to a news release.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the living room of the home and they got the blaze under control by 9:22 a.m., according to the news release. While firefighters were put out the fire another crew did a search and found a dog in the basement of the one-story home. They took the dog outside and was doing fine, according to the release.
Heavy fire damage was reported to the living room with heavy smoke damage throughout the home along with moderate water damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
