Several Canterbury apartments damaged by fire

Multiple Canterbury Green Apartments units were damaged by heavy fire Thursday morning.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded at 7:58 a.m. to a report of an apartment fire at 5209 Stonehedge Blvd., according to a news release.

The first crews arrived in 4 minutes and found heavy smoke coming from the roof and eaves of the 3-story building. Multiple crews worked to put out flames on all three floors of the apartment building and confined the blaze to one-half of the building, according to the release.

Several units in the building were damaged by heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Fire crews remained on site for some time to work on hot spots throughout the structure. They brought the fire under control at 9:36 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross helped residents.
