Two men found dead in a vehicle in a pond earlier this month in Hoagland died as a result of drowning, according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, which also identified the victim of another crash.

The deaths of Tony L. Frecker and Luke A. Gerardot, who were involved in the vehicle crash into a pond in the 5600 block of Hoagland Road at around 9 p.m. Feb. 5, has been ruled accidental, according to the coroner’s office Thursday.

Frecker’s death is the fourth fatal motor vehicle crash in Allen County this year and Gerardot’s is the fifth.

The victim of a crash at around 7:47 a.m. Tuesday in the 14000 block of Indianapolis Road has been identified as Albert A. Drerup, 35, of Zanesville, according to the coroner’s office.

Drerup was a restrained driver involved in a crash with a second vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His death was a result of the crash and was ruled an accident. His death is the sixth fatal motor vehicle crash in Allen County this year.

Investigating officers determined that a silver Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Drerup was southbound on Indianapolis Road north of West Hamilton Road when for an unknown reason the minivan crossed the center line and struck a northbound Ford F-350 pickup, according to Allen County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Capt. Steve Stone.

The male driver and sole occupant of the pickup received minor injuries. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.
