Several Fort Wayne schools make Indiana Department of Education’s 2016-2017 Four Star Schools list

The following Fort Wayne area schools are included on the Indiana Department of Education’s 2016-2017 Four Star Schools list, which was announced Friday:

East Allen County Schools;

• Cedarville Elementary School

• East Allen University

• Leo Elementary School in Leo-Cedarville

• Leo Jr.-Sr. High School in Leo-Cedarville

Fort Wayne Community Schools:

• Fred H. Croninger Elementary School

Northwest Allen County Schools:

• Carroll High School

• Eel River Elementary School

• Oak View Elementary School

Southwest Allen County Schools:

• Aboite Elementary School

• Homestead Senior High School

• Woodside Middle School

Christian schools:

• Blackhawk Christian Elementary School

• Blackhawk Christian Middle and High School

Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend:

• Bishop Dwenger High School

• St. Joseph School in Garrett

Lutheran schools:

• Concordia Lutheran High School

Area schools:

• Bellmont Senior High School in Decatur

• Prairie Heights Senior High School in LaGrange

• South Adams High School in Berne

SELECTION CRITERIA

To receive a Four Star School designation, the Indiana Department of Education reported a school must have:

• Received an “A” accountability grade for the 2016-2017 school year.

• Tested at least 95 percent of students on ISTEP English/Language Arts and Math.

• Achieve for Grade 3-8 and Grade 10 a combined ISTEP Pass Percentage (Pass Percentage of English/Language Arts ISTEP + Pass Percentage of Math ISTEP) in the Top 25th percentile for each grade tested, with at least 10 students tested per grade.

• Attain Grade 3-8 and Grade 10 Percent Passing Both ISTEP (Percent of students who passed both the English/Language Arts ISTEP + Math ISTEP) in the Top 25th percentile, with at least 10 students tested per grade.
