3 people escape, 2 cats rescued from Fort Wayne fire

Fort Wayne firefighters rescued two cats after two adults escaped with a child from a house fire Saturday afternoon.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded at 5:26 p.m. to a reported structure fire at 2916 Northside Drive. The first units arrived 3 minutes later and found fire and smoke coming from the one-story home, according to a news release.

The crews brought the fire under control in 17 minutes. The adults told firefighters that two cats were inside, which firefighters rescued. No injuries were reported.
