UPDATED: Indiana Michigan Power repairing Fort Wayne, area electrical outages caused by wind

UPDATE: As of 7 p.m.: Fewer than 100 customers who lost electricity because of high weekend winds remain without service. Power should be restored to everyone by midnight, according to Indiana Michigan Power.

Strong winds between 45 to 50 mph late Saturday night/early Sunday morning left several Indiana Michigan Power customers without power.

By early Sunday afternoon I&M has restored power to more than half of the 10,000-plus customers who lost service, according to a news release. About 4,300 customers remained without power as of 1 p.m.

The Marion area was hit hard, with about 3,500 customers without service at 1 p.m. The

estimated time of restoration for our Marion customers is 8 Sunday night.

As of 1 p.m., about 260 Fort Wayne customers were without service. For Fort Wayne customers, the estimated time of restoration is 11 p.m.
