VIDEO: Another Fort Wayne singer reportedly makes it to the blind auditions on ‘The Voice’
Another aspiring Fort Wayne vocalist reportedly will take the stage for the new season of the NBC vocal talent show “The Voice.”
Christiana Hicks, a Snider High School alumna and 2017 Huntington University graduate, announced through her social media accounts that she will be one of the contestants in the blind auditions of the show, which began its new season Monday night.
She follows Addison Agen of Fort Wayne, 16, who finished runner-up during the show’s fall season.
The blind auditions continue 8-9 p.m. tonight and resume at 8-10 p.m. Monday and 8-9 p.m. March 6, and possibly the following week. “The Voice” is broadcast locally on Fort Wayne’s NBC, Channel 21.2.
In an Instagram post, Hicks said she doesn’t know what day her blind audition will be broadcast.
Huntington University organized a watch party for current students Monday night, but Hicks’ blind audition wasn’t shown during last night’s show.
Hicks was known around Huntington University for her great voice, being a good student and success in the triple jump for the women’s track and field team, HU staff said.
She sang with the Joyful Noise praise-and-worship team at HU chapel services, served as a Front Line Forester university ambassador, performed in campus talent shows and was homecoming queen during her senior year, said Lynette Fager, HU’s web and social media coordinator.
Hicks specialized in the triple jump in track, where she earned National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American honors during her 2016 and 2017 indoor track seasons, said Joanne Green, HU sports information director.
Hicks, who also was honored as a scholar athlete, holds HU’s women’s triple jump records for both indoor and outdoor track and competed at the NAIA national meet each of her four seasons, Green said.
