Fort Wayne seeking volunteers for April 21 cleanup

The city is seeking volunteers of all ages to participate in the annual Great American Cleanup™ April 21.

Residents, families, churches, youth organizations or schools can register at www.cityoffortwayne.org/greatamericancleanup or by calling 427-1345, no later than Friday, March 30. Registration allows the city to accommodate volunteers with event tee-shirts, gloves, and trash bags. Groups can select the area they wish to clean-up or the city staff can assign them an area. Last year, volunteers collected more than 187,000 pounds of litter and debris during this one-day effort.

The Great American Cleanup™ is the country’s largest beautification and community improvement effort. Nationwide, there were more than 4 million volunteers last year. Fort Wayne’s clean-up efforts focus on neighborhoods, vacant lots, trails and greenways, graffiti removal, streets and roads, and rivers.
