THIS DAY IN HISTORY: March 5 in photos

1951 - Members of the Walgreens Breakfast Club - a group of downtown businessmen who went to Walgreens for breakfast every morning - celebrated the club's 12th anniversary March 5, 1951. Speaking at the microphone was store manager Fred Krueger, who got so carried away by the occasion that he picked up the tab for the coffee and sinkers.
2001 - The last of the old Lutheran Hospital succumbs to the wrecking ball on Monday afternoon, March 5, putting an end to the institution's century-old presence in the Fairfield neighborhood. Demolition started in November; the hospital moved to its present location on West Jefferson Boulevard in 1992.

2004 - Chappell Hartridge, one of the jurors in the Martha Stewart trial, speaks to reporters in this March 5, 2004, file photo. Martha Stewart asked for a new trial on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, saying Hartridge, who helped convict her, lied about a past arrest on assault charges.
2009 - Dan Wire, a board member of the North Side Neighborhood Association talks with Jen Higgenbotham, of RATIO Architects, Thursday evening during an open house for the purposed Downtown Design Standards at the downtown Library. The city was looking from feedback from the public on their new plan.
2009 - Ben Hoffman, former commercial pilot is searching for a job. He has been looking since July and is finding he is over qualified for a lot of the positions out there.
2010 - Joan Uebelhoer of Fort Wayne, center, a founding mother of many women's organizations in the Fort Wayne area including the Fort Wayne Feminists, SCAN (Stop Child Abuse & Neglect), Women's Studies at IPFW, and the Fort Wayne Hedge School, received a Torch Award on Thursday at the Indiana Statehouse. At far left is her son, Jim Uebelhoer Jr. At far right is Cat Voors, a Fort Wayne artist and activist.

2013 - Tony Mitchell scored 27 points to lead the Mad Ants in their 115-102 win over the Canton Charge on Tuesday at Memorial Colisuem.
2012 - Brittany Rickord, manager, stands in space being remodeled into the 11 Eleven Lyceum, an entertainment and event venue taking shape next to Lucky Harley-Davidson on Illinois Road.
