THIS DAY IN HISTORY: March 14 in photos

1957 - On March 14, 1957, Philo T. Farnsworth, inventor of electronic television and vice president and technical consultant for the Farnsworth Electronics Co., shows off one of the early television sets produced by his company in Fort Wayne. This museum piece, with its small screen, was built shortly after the end of World War II as commercial production of sets started stepping up.
1994 - Easter food, cole slaw and rice with spiced beef and pine nuts.
1994 - Charles Codomine,played by Larry Bower, and Madame Arcath, played by Janet McCaulay in a scene from "Blithe Spirit".
1994 - Ian Garner,5, tries out the monkey bars at Franke Park Monday afternoon. The cooler weather didn't keep him from having a good time, he was there with his sister Alyssa,4, and father Scott Garner.
1995 - Three-year-old Cissy Underwood tries to find a new place to draw with her chalk Tuesday afternoon at Papa Smurf's Daycare Center on Butler Street in Fort Wayne. Childcare aide Dionne Black said she wanted to do an outdoor project because the weather was so nice.
1996 - Mike Holifield, Northrop High School hockey player, and Prep Sports Hockey player of the year.
1996 - James Voors with a table he is in the process of refinishing. He business is at 515 W Wayne.
1997 - Water on the roof of Fairfield Elementary School flows away from drains on the roof. The school has had problems with mildew.
1998 - Bluffton's Abby Salscheider, center, displays the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award at a celebration in Bluffton that she recieved following the IHSAA 2A Girls Basketball Championship Game.
2000 - City of Fort Wayne Water Maintance employee Larry Walker, center, climbs into a hole left by a water main break under Maycrest Drive, just south of Lake Avenue. The crew was going to move the water pump in-take hose to a new spot while pumping the water out of the hole to fix the break. The break rupture reduced pressure to businesses and residents.
2000 - From left to right, standing Walter Baker, Lowell Noll, and John Girard, talk about old times in the track housing neighborhood of Central Soya in Decatur. The neighbors had a reunion Monday afternoon to talk over old times.
2002 - Scholastic Art Award winnner James Gates, a junior at South Side High School, did this painting "Myselves"
2003 - An Indiana State Police Helicopter circles the area around the 3101 E. State location of Bank One which was robbed around 10:30 Friday morning.
2006 - Chilo Torres, right, of Clounie Landscaping of Huntington, taps a brick into place in the walkway around the reflecting pools of the sunken garden at Lakeside Park.
2007 - Fort Wayne Fire Fighter Steve McDonald plays during rehearsal Tuesday evening at Wayne Fire Station 13.
2008 - Twiggy the 6th a water-skiing squirrel was getting in a few laps of practice Thursday afternoon at the Fort Wayne Sports, Vacation, and Boat Show. His owner, Lou Ann Best, from Florida, has been training squirrels to ski for 27 years. Her first squirrel was one she and her husband adopted after a hurricane.
2011- Chico and his man. Allen County Police Officer Brock Williams took Chico, a Chihuahua, that was a neglect rescue, home Monday from Allen County Animal care and Control. The dog has been slowly gaining strength since his rescue in late February during a drug bust. Williams was one of the officers on the scene two found the neglected animal. Chico will have two new canine friends at Williams' home, a Cairn Terrier and a boxer-sheperd labrador mix. Williams said Chico has met the pair and thinks he's the biggest dog.
2012 - Weather in the 70's Wednesday had bikers, out in force on the River Greenway. This cyclist, dressed for the warmer temperatures was near Foster Park, where the first crocuses are in bloom.
2014 - After a warm day that turned snowdrifts to mudpuddles, the sun sets Friday over standing water in a farm field south of Ossian in Wells County.
2015 - Local landlord Bob Wyss would like to buy and renovate the condemned house at 1227 Kinsmoor Ave., but the city may tear it down within 30 days because the owner — Bank of America, according to county records — has shown no interest in making necessary repairs or selling it.
