THIS DAY IN HISTORY: April 14 in photos

1952 - Hoagy Carmichael was rehearsing on April 14, 1952, at Quimby Auditorium for for his appearance as a guest artist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra that night. It was at the rehearsal that he played for the first time a song he'd just written, "Take Your Time." In fact, he had the idea for the song's lyrics on his flight from California to Fort Wayne and jotted them down on a piece of stationery at the Hotel Van Orman. He then composed the music on the piano at the rehearsal.
1960 - Goalie Glenn Ramsay (center) reflects the fatigue from a marathon playoff game as he and the St. Paul Saints beat the Komets 5-4 on April 14, 1960.
