Steuben County body found in recreation area is a homicide case, Indiana State Police says
The death of a male victim whose body was found Friday in a recreation area has been ruled a homicide, according to the Indiana State Police.
Steuben County Coroner William Harter made the ruling after an autopsy Sunday. Investigators still need to identify the victim, which could take several weeks, according to the ISP.
At around 10:39 a.m. Friday, workers at the Trine State Recreation Area off Feather Valley Road in Steuben County found the body. They immediately contacted Indiana Conservation Officers who, along with the ISP and the Fremont Fire Department, responded to the scene. Investigators don’t know how long the victim had been there, according to the ISP.
