UPDATED: 25-year-old man dead after shooting on Fruehauf Drive in Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne Police are investigating the death of a man found Sunday night in a home in the 2800 block of Fruehauf Drive.

The man has been identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office as Ashton Shawn Bright, 25, of Fort Wayne. Bright died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death has been ruled the 14th homicide in Allen County for 2018.

Bright was found at 10:15 p.m. Sunday after officers were dispatched on a report of multiple gunshots being heard.

Officers found Bright inside the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to Officer Mark A. Bieker. Bright was initially listed in critical condition. Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority paramedics arrived and took over his emergency care. Soon after paramedics declared Bright dead.

Officers were initially told that witnesses had possibly seen a person leave the area on foot after the gunshots were heard. Witnesses couldn’t give a description of the person they saw, according to Bieker.

Detectives along with Crime Scene Technicians were called to the scene to talk to witnesses and collect evidence.

This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the coroner’s office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
