A man was in serious condition after being shot Tuesday night while trying to get an item from his ex-girlfriend’s home, according to Fort Wayne Police.

Officers responded at around 9:10 p.m. Monday to a reported shooting in the 2000 block of Webster Street. They found a woman who told them that she had shot her ex-boyfriend there, but he had left before police arrived, according to police spokesman Michael Joyner.

Five minutes later a second call came in to report a shooting in the 3600 block of Holton Street, which turned out to be the victim. Officers there found the man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition and was last reported to be stable but serious, according to Joyner.

Investigators learned that the victim, after being shot on Webster, drove himself to Holton, where officers found him, according to Joyner.

Detectives are still sorting out the details. No arrest has been made, and the investigation continues, according to Joyner.
