Fort Wayne NAACP preparing for elections on Nov. 17

NAACP Branch 3049 of Fort Wayne and Allen County will begin the process of electing officers and at-large members of its executive committee at general membership meetings this month and in October, with elections taking place Nov. 17. Fort Wayne and Allen County residents interested in running for office must be a member in good standing with the local NAACP branch. In order to qualify as a member in good standing, a person must be a paid member of the Fort Wayne/Allen County branch by April 1, 2018 and live and/or work within the local branch jurisdiction.

At the general membership meeting on Sept. 27, there will be an election of the Nominating Committee, which will receive petitions from candidates for office. That meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at LifeWay Bible Fellowship Church, 3000 S. Wayne St. At the next general membership meeting on Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at LifeWay, there will be a report of the Nominating Committee, formal receipt of the nominations and election of the Election Supervisory Committee.

The general election will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Pontiac Branch of the Allen County Public Library, 2215 S. Hanna St. In order to vote in the branch election, one must be a member in good standing of the branch 30 days prior to the election and must show a form of identification.
