Indiana State Excise Police officers have arrested a Fort Wayne man Tuesday afternoon at his residence for allegedly impersonating a police officer at a local nightclub, according to a police report.

Montrel L. Davis, 22, of the 6500 block of Covington Road, was charged for impersonation of a public servant, a Level 6 felony, after he allegedly showed a badge and stated he was an excise police officer to employees at Early Bird's Ultra Lounge, 4201 N. Wells St., on March 26.

Excise police were notified on April 2 that a man was inside the nightclub claiming to be an excise police officer. Officers went to the location and located Davis, who was reportedly carrying a gold shield badge with the words "Security Enforcement Officer" in his wallet.

Davis was arrested on an unrelated warrant for resisting law enforcement. Officers later determined Davis was employed by a private security company. A warrant for impersonating a public servant was issued Tuesday afternoon, which led to this arrest.
