A Fort Wayne woman has been charged in connection with the death of a man Wednesday night at the Ramada Inn.

Natasha C. Reed, 36, of the 3400 block of Maxim Drive, has been arrested on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony.

Reed was arrested for allegedly shooting Allen D. Bolton Jr., 38, of Fort Wayne to death Wednesday night inside Room 117 at the Ramada Inn, 305 E. Washington Center Road, after a domestic dispute, according to court documents.

Reed and Bolton were staying with their 10-year-old son at the Ramada Inn, where the two began to argue, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
Bolton reached for a travel bag and shook the contents onto the floor, including a handgun. Reed allegedly picked up the handgun and fired it at Bolton, causing him to fall to the floor where he was pronounced dead by medics, the affidavit said.

Reed reportedly called 911 and allegedly yelled, "Oh, my, God! I killed my baby's daddy." She also said, "I messed up, he dead," while her son could be heard in the background yelling, "Mommy, you are going to jail," according to the affidavit.

The boy also went for help and told two women in the hallway that his father was dead. When the women asked him why he thought his father was dead, the boy replied, "Because my mom shot him." The boy corroborated with Fort Wayne Police Department detectives the sequence of events leading to his father's death, according to the affidavit.
Reed requested an attorney when detectives attempted to interview her; however, she said, "I did not mean to," and "He always mean to me and calls me fat," the affidavit said.

The Allen County Coroner's Office determined Bolton died of gunshot wound(s) and declared Bolton the eighth homicide in Allen County in 2017.

Reed sits in the Allen County Jail on a 72-hour hold subject to a $50,000 bond.

The shooting remains under investigation.
