Fort Wayne Police responded to the sound of a gunshot after an officer heard the shot at 11:36 p.m. Monday while on patrol in the area of Coliseum and Sherman boulevards and found a man with blood on his head inside a room at the Regency Inn, according to a police report.
When the officer pulled into the lot, he exited the squad car with a patrol rifle and smelled marijuana. He saw Christian Myers holding a black AK47-style rifle and ordered him to put the rifle down, which Myers did. Another officer arrived and placed Myers in handcuffs until officers could investigate the shooting, the report said.
Inside one of the rooms, police found a man on a bed with blood on his head and called for paramedics. Police found a bullet hole in the west wall of the room and corresponding holes on the outside of the wall and inside and outside of the stairway wall, the report said.
Myers, 19, of the 5400 block of River Run Trail, was arrested on charges of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony.
