The motorcyclist who died after being injured in a crash about 8 p.m. Thursday on Dupont Road at Interstate 69 has been identified as Aaron W. Sliger, 31, of Fort Wayne, the Allen County Coroner's office announced Friday.

Sliger died from blunt-force injuries due to the crash, the coroner's announcement said. The death was ruled an accident.

Initial reports indicated Sliger was traveling west on Dupont at a high rate of speed when he hit the rear of a vehicle in front of him as he entered the intersection of Dupont and I-69, the Fort Wayne Police Department reported. Police found Sliger on the ground by his motorcycle. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, police said.

The crash still is being investigated by Fort Wayne Police, the coroner's office and the Allen County Prosecutor's office.

Sliger is the 24th motor vehicle crash fatality this year in Allen County.
