A man who barricaded himself in a house in the 800 block of Grace Avenue later surrendered to Fort Wayne Police Department officers without incident.

Police were assisting employees of the Indiana Department of Child Services about 4:20 p.m. Sunday as they visited the Grace Avenue house to check on the well-being of a child, Fort Wayne police reported. When they approached the home, a man answered the door who police recognized as being wanted on an active arrest warrant.

The man then went back into the house and refused to come out, barricading himself inside, police reported. No other people were in the home with him.

Police called their Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team to the area near the home, the report said. Once those officers were in place, the man in the home came out and was taken in custody without problem.

No other information about the incident was available Sunday night.
