A Steuben County man was arrested on preliminary drug charges by an Indiana State Police trooper following a Tuesday night traffic stop near Howe, according to a police report.
Matthew W. Friedel, 28, faces preliminary charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.
Friedel was arrested after the trooper smelled marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. In all, the trooper found methamphetamine, marijuana, two drug syringes, a pipe and more than $1,800 in U.S. currency. Friedel also had an existing arrest warrant for dealing methamphetamine locally.
