A Fort Wayne woman has been arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery in connection with the stabbing death early Wednesday of a man in an apartment in the 4900 block of Northcrest Drive.

Kathleen Gale Theriot, 49, was taken to the Allen County Jail following her arrest, the Fort Wayne Police Department reported Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to the apartment after receiving a report about 3:30 a.m. of a stabbing at that address, police reported Wednesday morning. When officers arrived, they found a man inside the apartment who appeared to have suffered one or more stab wounds to the abdomen.

Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital in critical condition, but the victim was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital, the police report said.

Preliminary information indicated the man was inside an apartment when the stabbing occurred, police said. No additional details were available late Wednesday afternoon.

The Allen County Coroner's office will release the identity of the victim as well as his cause and manner of death.
