Eighth-graders at Heritage Jr.-Sr. High School will be among those at 16 middle schools statewide taking part in the new Indiana Career Explorer (ICE) Pilot Program, which seeks to improve college and career readiness of Indiana students by helping eighth-graders "explore in-demand jobs, assess current skills, explore possible career pathways, and develop an education and training plan to achieve future goals utilizing an engaging online application," a news release from the Indiana Department of Education said.

The state education department partnered with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on the program, the news release said.

The only other northeast Indiana school selected to participate in the pilot program is Lakeview Middle School in Warsaw.
