Splash pads, Northside Pool opening

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation announced the opening of the city's splash pads and pools.

The city's free splash pads will be turned on at 9 a.m. May 27, while Northside Pool will be open May 27-29 and then reopen on a daily basis beginning June 3.

McMillen Pool also will open for the season on June 3.

Splash pads are located at these parks: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Franklin School Park, 1903 St. Marys Ave.; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Buckner Park, 6114 Bass Road; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at McCormick Park, 2300 Raymond St.; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Memorial Park, 2301 Maumee Ave.; 9 a.m.-11 p.m. when there are no scheduled events at Robert E. Meyers Park inside the north gate of Parkview Field, 1301 Ewing St.; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Shoaff Park, 6401 St. Joe Road; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Kreager Park, 7225 N. River Road; and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Waynedale Park, 2900 Koons St.

There is no opening date for Memorial Park Pool because of a shortage of lifeguards. Lifeguard applications are at www.cityoffortwayne.org.
