Letter to the editor: No strip club positives

Recently Kevin Leininger wrote a great column about the Club 44 strip club replacing Stewies on Coldwater Road. The owners say the city should look at the positives that it will create 60 jobs. Sixty jobs that are disrespectful of women and others who disrespect women. That is far from being a positive.

When there is a stripper on a strip pole on the neon sign in front of the building, it's obvious the activity that is going on inside. Coldwater Road and Coliseum Boulevard are two of the busiest streets in Fort Wayne. Other nearby businesses including the family friendly organic Fresh Thyme grocery store, Babys R Us next door, and Glenbrook Mall not to mention many other shopping and business establishments. Showgirls is just around the corner.

Fort Wayne is a nice town. It is a diverse community with a home town feel. These types of places provide no positive use and if they can't be banned altogether, they should be made to be on the outskirts of town.
