LETTER TO THE EDITOR: My prayer for the new year

As I wind down after family time on the day that we celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ, I lift up a prayer that Indiana ends abortion in 2018. A lofty prayer perhaps, but consider that Representative Curt Nisly will re-introduce the Protection at Conception bill to protect all pre-born babies from the moment of conception to natural death.

Some naysayers have claimed the bill will be challenged in court, but please understand that the Protection at Conception Bill has a non-severability clause to ensure that previous pro-life legislation is not undone in the event it is successfully challenged in court.

Know also, that the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling was predicated on the false premise that what is conceived in the womb is not human life. In actual Roe v.Wade audio, Justice Potter Stewart notes that the case for abortion would be an almost impossible case if it were established that an unborn fetus is a person within the protection of the 14th Amendment.

In contrast, Indiana Statute IC 16-34-2-1.1 confirms that life begins at conception, stating “That human physical life begins when a human ovum is fertilized by a human sperm.” Please visit www.Hoosiers4life.com and sign the petition to support the Protection at Conception Bill. Then call the Statehouse, 1-800-382-9841. If your representative is Brian Bosma or Ben Smaltz, then ask them to give the bill a hearing and a vote. If not, then ask your representative to relay that message to Bosma and Smaltz.
