LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Candidate for county commissioner right man for the job
Our community is very fortunate that Rich Beck has decided to run for Allen County commissioner. I can’t imagine anyone more qualified.
He has spent his entire professional career in banking, which has given him a detailed knowledge of business and financial operations. Currently, he is the senior vice president at Star Bank.
For the past 13 years, he has been a member of the Allen County Redevelopment Commission serving the past 10 years as it’s president.
Under his leadership, the commission has accomplished many things of enormous value to the community.
Most important of his achievements has been the establishment of a land banking program that has attracted many large economic development projects to the county that have created thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in investments.
All of this has been accomplished without costing taxpayers a dime.
Nobody has done more than Rich Beck to promote economic development in the county during the last several years and he has done it all as a volunteer.
He has never been paid a dime for all of his work.
Rich also has a deep knowledge of law enforcement operations having served for 40 years as a sheriff reserves deputy with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, most recently as deputy chief of operations.
Several years ago, I had the privilege of serving Rich on the redevelopment commission. I have seen, firsthand, how competent, hard working and dedicated he is. I also know him to be a man of impeccable character and honesty.
Again, we are very fortunate to have Rich Beck running for Allen County commissioner. I strongly urge the community to support his candidacy.
