LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Why are there so many expired license plates on the road without penalty?

letter to the editor

Is anyone aware how many people are driving on expired license plates? If they can’t afford to buy plates that also means, more than likely, they have no car insurance. That means since you’re insured, you will have to pay and your own insurance premium can go up. We see at least 5-6 cars within 2 hours with expired plates. The higher gas tax wouldn’t be necessary to fix roads if hefty fines were enforced. We drive a lesser car to pay for plates and insurance.

You wouldn’t believe what they’re driving — BMW, Cadillac, Lexus, etc. How can we get the police to pull them over? It is really easy to see expired tags.
