Letter to the editor: God's blessings

I believe some believers in Christ are waiting for God to bless them, when it’s God waiting for them to do something to bless. Why would God bless someone who is not prepared to handle the blessing he wants to give, and why would he bless someone he doesn’t recognize, someone who doesn’t reflect his attitude and character.

For God to bless someone who was not prepared to handle the blessing is like buying someone who is irresponsible a brand new house or car and watching them destroy it.

Look at the leaders in the Old Testament, when they cried out for deliverance, they prepared for it, (this involves reading the Old Testament) and glorified God upon deliverance.

God blesses us so we can bless others, not for self-indulgence. God is not our wish genie and we should not treat him as such.
