Letter to the editor: Sad, insulting decisions

“I am insulted and sad.” Such was the response of a local school superintendent when asked about the selection and confirmation of Betsy DeVos as the secretary of education. Because Ms. DeVos “has basically no knowledge of just even the theories and the concepts in education,” the local superintendent has major concerns.

On the very day of these comments a retired teacher with over 30 years experience who was serving in a long-term elementary substitute position was involuntarily replaced by a novice who has no state teacher’s license and very little, if any, training in education within her corporation. I trust the superintendent’s feelings about this are “insulting and sad,” too.

How insulting to the corporation’s parents when such decisions are made by one of its principals and then ignored by its administrators. How sad that students have to be their victims.
