Recently some guests of the Audiences Unlimited, Inc. program as well as other senior citizens and I were privileged to attend the dress rehearsal of the Civic Theater's production of “Beauty and the Beast” to celebrate the 90th anniversary of this wonderful theater. All we can say is “WOW!” What a fabulous production it was. If you have never seen one of the Civic's wonderful productions, please treat yourself and attend. It runs through Aug. 5Sunday.
I have seen shows in Chicago and New York and this one was on par with them. Mr John Tolley, guest director, really outdid himself as did all the other people involved. Eunice Wadewitz, music director also did a great job. Belle, was played by Darby Bixler had a very beautiful voice and the Beast, played by Andrew Sherman was truly scary and great in his role. The choreography, handled by Leslie Beauchamp was excellent and the costumes by guest artist Tonia Brown were gorgeous. Fort Wayne is fortunate to have such talented people. Not to be forgotten are the wonderful generous financial donors that contribute to the success of this wonderful production. Please go see “Beauty and the Beast” soon.
