NS In-Depth: Carroll’s Kelli Damman

Kelli Damman, a Carroll senior, has been a consistent threat in the lineup for years as Carroll looks to add yet another Sectional crown this season. Damman was a critical part of the 2017 Sectional title and with the Chargers hosting the currently active Sectional, another win is within grasp.

Damman’s senior year has been all about diversity, showcasing that she can be a big part of every game and its outcome whether she is scoring the ball or not. Averaging 12.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.7 steals per game, Damman has left her mark on each contest.

WHO: Kelli Damman

SCHOOL: Carroll

CLASS: Senior

HOMETOWN: Fort Wayne, IN

HEIGHT: 5’9″

POSITION: Combo Guard

• THE PLAYER — Kelli on Kelli: “I work extremely hard but still have fun with it, and try to be the best teammate I can be.”

• THE COACH — Carroll’s Mark Redding on Kelli: “Kelli is a phenomenal player as well as an individual. She is a complete and unselfish player that can score in many ways and she leads us in almost every statistical category. Extraordinary work ethic.”

• THE TRAINER — Always 100’s Vernard Hollins on Kelli: “Kelli Damman, she is one of the best shooters around the state. She doesn’t just settle with that though, she gets up and does 6 a.m. workouts with me and doesn’t complain one bit. All she wants to do is be the best player she can be. Her teammates know they can depend on her because of the type of player she is when its not game time. She’s a gym rat and this is why she is successful. Not only can she shoot, but she does so many other things well which makes her extremely hard to guard. It’s like, what is a team to do to stop this kid? Her hunger for improvement and knowledge of the game put together can’t be stopped. I’m happy I get to train her her weekly.”

• THE EXPERT AMPHIBIAN — News-Sentinel.com’s Shooter on Kelli: “There have been very few players that can be as consistent as Kelli Damman. You can always trust her with the ball in her hands even though she is not a true point guard. Need a big bucket? Give it to Kelli. Need the right play or situation set up? Give it to Kelli. And she has been consistent with her confidence and with her reliable approach for years. Kelli Damman is just reliable.”
