Wayne’s Kylon Jarreau, South Side’s Jaci Jones voted Fan Vote Players of the Week for February 5-10
Girls basketball Regionals saw just two of eight remaining area teams survive the weekend, but there were plenty of quality individual performances.
One of those performances saw Jones, the South Side sophomore, earn the most votes to be the Fan Vote player of the week for the fifteenth week of the girls season. Jones scored 22 points in Saturday morning’s 89-61 win over Carroll by going 6-of-8 from three point range. She earned 38.51 percent of the fan vote.
Other girls nominees included Central Noble’s Sydney Freeman, Fairfield’s Jenean Schwartz, South Side’s Mikeba Jones and Concordia Lutheran’s Carissa Garcia.
On the boys side, Wayne senior Kylon Jarreau won the fan vote for his performance on the Generals’ senior night. He scored 14 points on Friday in a 77-76 win over South Side. Four of those points came in the final 10 seconds, hitting a three pointer while being fouled and then hitting the winning free throw. Jarreau earned 40.57 percent of the fan vote.
