All-Northeast Corner Conference girls basketball teams announced

The Northeast Corner Conference was All-Conference team was named on Thursday afternoon. Conference regular season champion Fairfield led the way with four players placing on the all-conference team.

Erica Zook, Jordan Kintigh, Felicity Bontrager and Jenean Schwartz, all seniors for the Falcons, will lead Fairfield into a semi state game this weekend against Class 3A top-ranked Northwestern.

Joining them on the all-conference team are Angola’s Hanna Knoll and Ali Cranston, Central Noble’s Sydney Freeman and Meleah Leatherman, Eastside’s Lindsey Beard and Maddisyn Heffley, West Noble’s Madison Schermerhorn and Lauren Burns, Garrett’s Makenzie Casselman, Lakeland’s Bailey Hartsough, Prairie Heights’ Shelby Fish and Westview’s Ashya Klopfenstein.

Five additional players were voted as All-NECC Honorable Mention. A fifth Fairfield senior, Katie Lashley, leads the honorable mention group. Also earning All-NECC Honorable Mention are Fremont’s Bella Dangerfield and Samantha Kuhn, Angola’s Ally Lorntz and Prairie Heights’ Alexis German.

Fairfield won the conference title with a perfect 11-0 record in conference play. They were followed by Angola, Central Noble, West Noble, Westview, Eastside, Lakeland, Garrett, Fremont, Prairie Heights, Churubusco and Hamilton, in that order.

Angola was the winner of the NECC Tournament in January, topping Churubusco, Central Noble, Eastside and West Noble in the process. Only Fairfield and Central Noble went on to win their Sectionals, with both teams also winning Regional titles.
