All-Northeast Corner Conference boys basketball teams announced; Westview has four selections

The Westview Warriors have added a Sectional title to their resume this season and will play this Saturday in the North Judson-San Pierre Regional against Canterbury. Thursday, four Warriors were honored with All-NECC selections, including three members of the All-NECC First Team.

Elijah Hales, Nick Rensberger and Charlie Yoder all earned First Team All-NECC for Westview, who went 10-1 in the conference and won the NECC Tournament. Westview beat Fairfield 62-45 in the tournament final, but turned around to lose to them 56-52 in overtime in their very next game. It stands as Westview’s only loss to date.

Fairfield themselves had Peyton Faldoe, Cordell Hofer and Luke Stephens on the All-NECC First Team. Other members of the All-NECC First Team include Angola’s Braydon Hart and Braxton Meek, Central Noble’s Ridley Zolman, Eastside’s Caleb Ballentine, Garrett’s Dillon McCann, Lakeland’s Camron Bontrager and Cole Harp, Prairie Heights’ Mike Perkins and West Noble’s Trevor Franklin.

Those players earning All-NECC Honorable Mention are Westview’s Josh Hostetler, Angola’s Jarret Schultz, Central Noble’s Trey Phillips, Churubusco’s Zane Burke and Jackson Paul, Fremont’s Tanner Behnfeldt and Hamilton’s Bailey Merritt.

Fairfield and Westview ended up tied at the top of the final standings at 10-1 in conference. They were followed by Angola, Lakeland, Central Noble, Churubusco, West Noble, Eastside, Prairie Heights, Garrett, Fremont and Hamilton.
