Former University of Saint Francis wide receiver Seth Coate has landed a spot on the practice squad of the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa Redblacks.

Coate signed with the Redblacks more than a year after his tremendous college career ended, and was assigned to the practice squad after the final preseason game. Coate caught his first professional touchdown pass in the preseason finale against Toronto.

In helping Saint Francis to the 2016 NAIA national title, Coate set Saint Francis single-season records for receiving yards and touchdowns. He was also named as the Offensive Player of the Game when he caught nine passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns in the 38-17 win over Baker. Coate was an outstanding player at Homestead High School before his college career.
