Area basketball players to participate in underclass showcase events at Ben Davis High School

The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and the Indiana High School Athletic Association will team up for showcase events on July 9 and 16 at Ben Davis High School.

The showcases are set up for over 200 underclassmen from the 2017-2018 school year. The event will feature two games for each player and some workouts for colleges to witness. It is also open to the public for $5 per person.

The boys will participate on July 9, starting at 2 p.m. with the last set of games scheduled for 6:50 p.m.

Area boys expected to participate are Ali Ali and Hayden Jones (East Noble), Zach Daugherty (Huntington North), Frankie Davidson and Caleb Furst (Blackhawk Christian), David Ejah and Dan McKeeman (Carroll), Will Geiger (Norwell), Kade Fuelling (Bellmont), Nolan Groninger (Warsaw), Elijah Hales and Charlie Yoder (Westview), Johnathan Irwin (Bluffton), Hayden Smithey (Bishop Dwenger) and Ridley Zolman (Central Noble). There will be 118 total boys participating.

The girls will take their turn on July 16 with the same schedule format as the boys.

Area girls expected to participate are Sydney Freeman and Meleah Leatherman (Central Noble) and Sylare Starks (Homestead). There will be an expected 110 girls participating.

26 boys coaches and 28 girls coaches from high schools around the state will participate in coaching duties for the showcase. None of them are from the Fort Wayne area.
