Komets drop overtime decision to Cincinnati

Despite lots of input from three new players, the Fort Wayne Komets lost their second game in a row Friday night, falling to the Cincinnati Cyclones 3-2 in overtime.

The Komets trailed 2-0 late in the second period on goals by Cyclones Winston Day Chief and Andrew Radjenovic. Fort Wayne cut the margin to 2-1 just before the end of the period as Artur Tyanulin scored off assists from Jason Binkley and Curtis Leonard. Then Zac Larraza scored early in the third period off assists fro Jalen Smereck and Shawn Szydlowski. Tyanulin, Larraza and Smereck were each assigned to Fort Wayne late in the week from Tucson of the AHL.

The Cyclones scored 30 seconds into the overtime as Shawn O’Donnell hit the game-winner.

Cincinnati won the shots battle 25-24, and both teams were scoreless in three power-play attempts.

The Komets are off until Friday when they host Adirondack.
