Interested in helping veterans?

After a very successful 10th year of Komets Kare Package in November, we are asking you to consider more donations as we help Northern Indiana Veterans Administration Health System start a food pantry. The local VA serves more than 45,000 veterans throughout the region.

The list of food items being asked for include canned items spaghetti sauce, pasta, pork and beans, chili or stew, fruit, tuna, salmon or chicken and mixed vegetables and packaged products such as tuna, chicken or hamburger helper, pudding packs, peanut butter and jelly, cereals, oatmeal, boxed potato dishes, rice and pasta side dishes, macaroni and cheese and breakfast bars. The VA is unable to store fresh or frozen food and would prefer not to deal with liquids.

If you are unable to donate maybe your church, school and any other group could have a food drive to help with this project. Retired Indiana Army National Guard Master Sgt. Steve Kingsley is spearheading this dive and is willing to pick up the donations pretty much anywhere. He can be contacted at steve.kingsley@frontier.com.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING THESE TO THE GAMES. WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING THEM THERE.

Thank You for your support on this project to help our local veterans.
