The Komets have officially re-added goaltender Sean Maguire to the roster and now are carrying three goalies.

“We’ll talk to management here and see what the plan is,” Komets coach Gary Graham said. “Both goalies Barts and Houser played very well over the weekend. Now you throw in another goalie who is practicing very well and it’s going to get very competitive around here. A lot of hockey to play in the month of January which is good.”

It will be interesting to see how the Komets make this work under the salary cap.

* Jamie Schaafsma was back at practice full-tilt today and said he feels much better after a recent illness. It’s unsure yet if he’ll be in the lineup tomorrow against Kalamazoo.

* Today’s practice was incredibly loose, as everyone was laughing and goofing off when they weren’t involved in drills. Shawn Szydlowski had a tough day, as the blue line jumped out and tripped him, and there was a huge dogpile at the end of practice on top of Garrett Thompson. Basically, everyone behaved like 7-year-old boys, but they’ve definitely earned the opportunity after a 12-2 December. Lots of energy.

* Justin Hodgman has returned to full practice, but he’s not allowed to participate in full-contact drills. He’s hoping to be able to play again by Jan. 20. He looked pretty good.
