Wonderful story about life in the ECHL

Scott Wheeler of the Athletic wrote this amazing story about a weekend with the Brampton Beast which you can read by clicking here.

A couple of points: Keep in mind how much difference there is between different ECHL franchises. Travel for the Komets is much different than it is for the Beast. Also, the Komets are going to play in Reading and Adirondack in March.

This is also pretty much the same life for coaches throughout the league. Gary Graham has an assistant coach, a player/coach and a volunteer assistant, but he still puts in these kinds of hours. It’s just the way the job is.

It’s a long and amazing story so make sure you have quite a bit of time to read it. I hope the Komets all take the time to read this, too. This story isn’t anywhere close to the way they are treated in Fort Wayne, but most of them have all been through something similar along the way.
