Former NFL lineman Trai Essex returns for second camp

Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman and Fort Wayne native Trai Essex will be holding a free football camp again this summer.

The 2nd Trai Essex/New Haven High School Football Youth FUNdamental Camp will be 6-8:30 p.m. June 11-12 at New Haven High School. The camp is free to for ages third through eighth grade students from New Haven, Paul Harding Junior High School, Prince Chapman Academy, Southwick Elementary and St. Johns and Central Lutheran schools.

The skill camp will include Essex, who played at Harding High School and Northwestern University before his NFL career, and other past and present college players. Pads and helmets will not be used. Drills will be led by New Haven football and AWP staff members.

Each participant will receive a camp t-shirt and must pre-register at http://www.totalcamps.com/FUNDAMENTALS/camps/2017_trai_essex_fundamentals_camp/_bvm

In addition, Essex will conduct lineman camp session June 12 for New Haven High School players.

Essex will also lead a free informational session at 6 p.m. June 11 for parents of students grades 3-12 who have aspirations for their children playing college sports. Essex's father Donald Essex will speak, along with Troy Hoffer and New Haven principal Anna Murphy. Bring a lawn chair and the booster club will have food for sale.
