Bishop Luers needs double OT to edge Huntington North
One way to get tuned up for the upcoming state tournament is to play a little extra basketball. Bishop Luers and Huntington North tried to test the theory Friday night.
J.J. Foster scored 21 points and grabbed four steals as the Knights edged the Vikings 57-52 in double overtime at Bishop Luers. Ray Walker also scored 14 points and Anton Berry had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights. Hunter Hollowell led the Vikings with 18 points and Chaz Bruce scored 12.
Bishop Luers finishes the regular season 15-7, while Huntington North is 17-7.
Leo 80, Woodlan 63: Will Moreau led the Lions with 28 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals as they improved to 12-12. Jeremy Davison scored 16 points with seven assists, and Eli Steiner scored 15 points with five rebounds and four assists.
Austin Fancher scored 18 points to pace the Warriors, while Aaron Hahn scored 16. Woodlan is 12-10.
Carroll 44, Warsaw 39: Riley Perlich scored 16 points and had three steals to pace the Chargers, 12-9, who pulled away in the fourth quarter after trailing 32-28 after three quarters. Kyle Mangas paced the Tigers with 10 points.
Jay County 50, Bellmont 39: Jason Schlosser scored 11 and Cole Stigleman 10 to pace the Patriots, 13-9, who ended a four-game losing streak. The Braves are 4-18.
Kokomo 68, Northrop 60: Despite 30 points from Richard Robertson and 13 from Darius Craig, the Bruins couldn’t stop Kokomo from winning its ninth straight game. The Bruins are 11-10.
Southwood 88, Bluffton 45: Peyton Trexler scored 24 points and Matt Nose and Dallas Holmes 16 each to lead the Knights, 18-4. The Tigers, 5-17, were paced by Max Corle with 11 points and Evan Baumgartner with 10.
Homestead 66, Norwell 49: A 19-4 second quarter and 27 points from Jack Ferguson helped the Spartans put the game away. Sam Buck added nine points, three assists and four steals. Cody Shively and Will Geiger each scored 16 and Cole Wilson 10 for the Knights, 14-10. The Spartans, 20-3, have won nine games in a row.
Columbia City 45, Concordia 35: Parker Hazen hit 10 of 14 field goal attempts to score 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to pace the Eagles, 11-13. Cam Scott passed four assists. The Cadets were led by Larson Ashford with 13 points and Jadon Dance with 10. The Cadets are 3-18.
Churubusco 63, Eastside 52: Jalen Paul scored 29 points with six assists and four rebounds and Luke Foote scored 16 points with three assists to pace the Eagles, 14-8. Dakota Barkley added 10 points, three assists and six rebounds.
Eastside is 18-4.
Wayne 70, Richmond 68: Kylon Jarreau scored with three seconds left to give the Generals a huge win on the road. Jarreau finished with 24 points and Craig Young 21 as the Generals improved to 11-11.
Richmond rallied from 10 points down to take a 68-66 lead before Wayne rallied to win.
