Bentil gets NBA deal Rookie has played in 13 games for Fort Wayne.

The Dallas Mavericks have signed Fort Wayne forward Ben Bentil to a 10-day contract, marking the Mad Ants’ first call-up to the NBA this season.

Bentil, a 6-foot-9, 235-pound rookie from Providence, was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the second round (51st overall) and later released and acquired by the Mad Ants. He played one game before leaving for a deal in China. He played 11 games for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and then returned to Fort Wayne on Jan. 16.

He has averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in 13 appearances with the Mad Ants.

The Mad Ants play at Grand Rapids on Wednesday and return home against Westchester on Friday.
