East Noble hoops goes from "terrible" to sectional title contenders

Brent Cox isn't afraid to say what everybody else is thinking. "Our basketball program was terrible," the East Noble junior said last week. "Terrible" is a strong word, but there's no arguing the fact that basketball hasn't exactly been a beacon of excellence in the last 15-plus years. Since the program's last sectional championship in 2001, the Knights have finished with a winning record just four ...

SECTIONAL DRAW NOTEBOOK: North Side to be waiting awhile; First things first for Blackhawk

That means North will go 14 days between games after concluding its regular-season schedule last Friday. "I ...

PREP HOOPS: After 19 years, Coach Marty Beasley still learning, adapting

When asked if there was one thing he could tell himself 19 years ago as a rookie head coach at Garrett, Marty Beasley didn't hesitate much. Nearly two decades later, Beasley is better in tune with what to say and not say on the sideline. He's also pretty darn good at his job, evidenced by the 257 ...

PREP HOOPS NOTES: Wayne passes "sectional scenario" test; Teams getting physical with North Side

That is what Wayne did last week, with coach Aaron Rehrer's team going 3-0 in games Tuesday (vs. Norwell), Friday (Bishop Dwenger) and Saturday (South Bend Washington), the typical sectional week format. "We told the guys that with the schedule we had, it fit a sectional where we had to win them all," ...
