<center>Rising Stars donates to schools</center> <br>

Rising Stars of Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, a program where elementary school representatives are contacted by Community Connectors of Associated Churches on a regular basis to assess the needs of the children, families and staff of the schools, announced volunteer hours and in-kind donations valued at $174,466 were distributed to Fort Wayne Community Schools and East Allen Community Schools in 2012. More than 50 churches and organizations collected 12,837 tangible need items estimated at a value of $109,295. During the same time, Rising Stars amassed 2,319 volunteers giving 8,600 hours of service worth $65,171.

<br> <center>Rescue Mission gets funds</center> <br>

The Rescue Mission received $3,000 from the Apartment Association of Fort Wayne-NE Indiana to benefit the Restoration House and Charis House.

<center>Donation to partnership</center> <br>

Steel Dynamics Inc. awarded $1,000 to support Allen County Education Partnership’s initiative for pre-K through Grade 3 literacy enrichment.

<br> <center>Applebee’s give to Make-A-Wish</center> <br>

Neighborhood Applebee’s Restaurants raised more than $132,000 for Make-A-Wish through a year-long fundraising campaign, which included Star Sales, breakfasts with Santa, and the stories of wish children displayed at participating locations.

<br> <center>TinCaps gives $5,000 to fan</center> <br>

To celebrate the start of the TinCaps’ fifth season playing at Parkview Field, the team will give away $5,000 to one fan on opening night, April 11. All fans in attendance will be eligible to win this guaranteed cash prize. Each fan entering the ballpark will receive a scratch-off card. Instant winners will receive a TinCaps game-worn red jersey. The final $5,000 winner will be selected from among the jersey winners.

Fans also may take part in a daily scavenger hunt to win free tickets to opening night. TinCaps will use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to give clues, fans must find the item and have their photo taken with the item and emailed to Facebook.com/TinCaps, Tweeted to @TinCaps using hashtag #TinCaps or emailed to Instagram at Johnny@TinCaps.com. Each week one winner will receive two free tickets to the April 11 game and a red TinCaps jersey, which will enter them for a chance to win $5,000.

<br> <center>Winner gets free rent</center> <br>

The Huntington County Visitor and Convention Bureau announced Adam and Rebecca Hanson of Antiqology are the winners of the “Destination Downtown Win Free Rent for a Year” contest. The couple will receive a year of free rent in the Visitor Bureau’s adjoining building located at 401 N. Jefferson St., on the corners of Market and Jefferson streets, Huntington.
