Purdue Varsity Glee Club to perform concert March 23 in the Fort Wayne area

The Purdue Varsity Glee Club, which this year includes five young men from the Fort Wayne area, will perform a concert at 7 p.m. March 23 at Woodlan Jr.-Sr. High School, 17215 Woodburn Road near Woodburn. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets at the door are $20 for adults, $10 for students and free for age 4 and younger. Tickets can be ordered in advance on Eventbrite.com.

The Fort Wayne-area students in the 55-member glee club are senior and Woodlan graduate Sam Hathaway; senior Micah Reynolds, who plays bass guitar in the group’s band; junior Stephen Wirtner; and sophomores Sam Simpson and Zach Bucher, an event news release said.

The glee club, which has performed around the United States and internationally, entertains with a musical repertoire ranging from gospel, jazz, swing, religious and contemporary music to romantic ballads, barbershop harmony, folk tunes, patriotic selections and novelty numbers, the news release said. Students receive no college credit for participating in the glee club.
