Fort Wayne Community Schools celebrates Music in Our Schools Month with a concert festival Saturday at South Side High School, 3601 S. Calhoun St. Admission is free.
The event will feature performances by 19 groups from FWCS middle and high schools, including concert bands, string orchestras, jazz ensembles, the Kekionga Steel Drum ensemble, a concert choir and a show choir, an FWCS news release said. The FWCS Middle School All-City Orchestra also will perform.
The festival schedule includes:
9 a.m. – Memorial Park Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Jazz Combos
9:20 a.m. – Weisser Park Elementary Band
9:40 a.m. – Portage 7th and 8th Grade Concert Band
10 a.m. – Wayne High School Advanced Concert Band
10:20 a.m. – Lane Middle School Jazz Band
10:40 a.m. – Snider High School Jazz Combo
11 a.m. – Blackhawk Middle School 8th Grade Band
11:20 a.m. – Lane Middle School Advanced Strings
11:40 a.m. – Snider High School String Orchestra
Noon – FWCS Middle School All-City Orchestra
1 p.m. – Northwood Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Concert Band
1:20 p.m. – Shawnee Middle School Advanced Concert Band
1:40 p.m. – Jefferson Middle School 8th Grade Concert Band
2 p.m. – Northrop High School Intermediate Concert Band
2:20 p.m. – Kekionga Middle School Steel Drums
2:40 p.m. – South Side High School String Orchestra
3:20 p.m. – South Side High School Vocal and Piano Soloist
3:40 p.m. – Lakeside Middle School Lancer Choir
4 p.m. – Memorial Park Middle School Show Choir
