Tour old New Haven High School Saturday at ‘Bulldog Bash’
The Bulldog Bash is almost here!
On Saturday, June 1, the building at 900 Prospect Ave. that served as New Haven High School from 1954 to 1977 and as a middle school since then will be open for tours between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., giving former students, faculty and others one last chance to relieve memories before the building is torn down this summer.
The school walk-through is free, and visitors should enter the school at door No. 2, the gym entrance. There will be access to the first floor only, which includes the gym and cafeteria. The wrestling room in the basement will also be open.
The Bulldog Bash party in nearby in Schnelker Park will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the cost is $20 (cash only). For the first 200 this will include food from Rack & Helens, a drink and brick from the school. There will also be a cash bar featuring beer, water and soft drinks. The American Legion band will play from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a DJ playing oldies.
Proceeds will be used to install a motorized 18-foot American flag in New Haven High School’s Armstrong Arena. A tent will be available in the park in case of rain.
