June 15 event celebrates community through rivers, city’s native people

The public is invited to attend RiverDrums 2019, a free family friendly event to celebrate community through art honoring our rivers and the native people who lived here in a village called Kekionga. The event will be in the Allen County Main Library Theater on Saturday, June 15.

The program includes:

12:30 p.m. Welcome by Fernando Zapari, Publisher of “El Mexicano”

12:45 Poem by Patty Hunter “Two Little Owls”

12:50 Video of Miami Healing Dance “Eagle Dress Side Step”

1:00 Fort Wayne Chinese Families & Friends Association Dancing

1:30 Ginger Karns educates with flute and spoken word

from Miami culture

2:00 Amaneceres De Mexico Dancing

2:30 Intermission

2:50 Burmese Dancers

3:20 Ken Noland, Cherokee-American flutist

3:50 Fort Wayne Ballet

Noon–5 p.m. educational displays and light refreshments

The event is made possible by the Fort Wayne Cable Fund Access Board with support from Sweetwater Sound, WPTA-TV Insight, and WANE-TV and is a program of Friends of the Third World.
